ChangingThePresent.org, a new nonprofit website, lets visitors choose exactly how they want to make the world a better place. For instance, for just a few dollars, you can provide a child with her first book; fund an hour of cancer research; protect an acre of wilderness; or restore a blind person's sight with cataract surgery. Donation gifts are also a wonderful way to honor friends and family for their birthdays, weddings and holidays. (After all, how many of us really want another pair of fuzzy slippers?) Wish lists and registries make it easy to find the perfect gift, which you can share with a personalized greeting card.
