The mission of Southern Queens Park Association is to maintain and enhance the Roy Wilkins Park as a regional human service center for residents and children of Queens.
Description:
Our agency provides a range of activities for community's children and families: after school and summer programs for youth, senior programs, day care, sports, and recreational activities. In addition to the Family Center at Roy Wilkins Park, services are also provided at Southern Queens Park Association's Beacon Program located at The New Preparatory Middle School in south Jamaica. Participating in these program are 1500 seniors, 4000 children and 2000 adults.
History:
Southern Queens Park Association is a 30 year old 501(c)(3) non-profit human services organization servicing approximately 300,000 people living in the neighborhoods of south Jamaica, St. Albans, Springfield Gardens, Cambria Heights, Rochdale Village, Rosedale, Queens Village, Laurelton, adn South Ozone Park. It operates out of a 54 acre Roy Wilkins Park, a gift of federal land on which the association renovated an old facility which is now a 54 thousand sq. ft. family center.
