Founded in 2001 by actress Susan Scannell, the Astoria Performing Arts Center is dedicated to bringing high quality theatre and entertainment to Astoria/LIC at affordable prices, while supporting local youth and senior citizens.
Description:
Each year, we bring networks of theatre artists, technicians, and volunteers together to produce musical revivals, plays and showcases. A robust mainstage season is complemented by community outreach programming in the form of performance programs for children as well as senior citizens.
History:
In 2004, our production of Is There Life After High School? was honored with an Off Off Broadway Review Award. In 2006, we received 3 New York Innovative Theatre Award nominations, and in 2007 we received a NY IT Award nomination in the category of Outstanding Set Design.
