Description:
Thirteen/WNET is one of the flagship stations of PBS(Public Broadcasting Service). We are a major producer of programming for PBS and of website content. Our signal reaches millions of viewers in the tri-state region. Our website is an educational resource for viewers and educators. We are supported by membership dollars and corporate, government and foundation grants.
History:
Thirteen/WNET began broadcasting in September, 1962. Many of our volunteers began their "careers" at Thirteen when our auction was a major source of fundraising. Although we no longer do the auction, we still enjoy the support of volunteers who have been with us for more than 30 years. Through the years, our volunteers have been an integral part of the station, providing administrative, customer service and educational outreach support.
