The Student Success Center will support students, faculty, and staff in sustaining and growing a culture of high expectations for post-secondary student achievement for every student on the Bushwick Campus. The center will make accessible critical tool and resources to meet these expectations.

Description:
The SSC provides (and needs volunteers for) the following innitiatives:
-College Access Center (We need volunteers to help staff the center and provide individualized attention to each student.)
-Young Male Mentor Program (The center is looking for adult male mentors, preferably of Latin American and African American heritage, to dedicate a few hours a week to come to campus and provide positive companionship to selected young men 'at risk' of not graduating from highschool.)
-Career Readiness Seminars (We looking for adults from all backgrounds who are willing and eager to present about their exerienced education and career paths. The point of this exercise is to allow students to understand the process and complications of turning your education into careers.)

History:
The SSC is a new component of Make the Road NY. It was established in the Fall of 2007 after years of struggling to gain a space on campus. It's founding was coordinated by Youth Power, a student activist group under the Make the Road NY umbrella. It was created by students for students.
