Character Studies was formed to create educational materials of all kinds to inform students and the general public about theater.
Description:
Founded in 2001 as a 501(c) 3 non-profit tax-exempt education organization, Character Studies Productions has been recording exclusive interviews with America's leading playwrights, actors, directors, choreographers, lyricists and composers to use in a variety of projects. Included in our line-up of activities are documentaries, teachers guides, lesson plans, an internship program and an archives project.
History:
As of the fall of 2007, Character Studies has produced and distributed through PBS four documentaries [three half-hour and one one-hour], three one-hour educational videos for classroom use, several print materials packets for use in high school and college classes, established a partnership with Manhattan's Museum of Television and Radio [The Paley Center] to share our archives collection, and has trained more than four hundred interns.
