The misssion of East New York United Concerned Citizens, inc. is to develop and provide community residents with comprehensive community programs and services to combat poverty, increase community awareness of important urban issues and to develop and generate community leadership by distributing resource materials, and conducting workshops and lectures for community residents; and promoting the well being and betterment of the community by organizing, funding and sponsoring community events and programs where generations of community residents, from the young to the elderly meet in recreational settings to discuss community concerns and issues.

East New York United Concerned Citizens, Inc. main goals are to build and operate a viable private non-profit organization as vehicle for economic empowerment and effective leadership to implement educational, recreational, charitable, recreational and civic awareness programs in the East New York Community. That will enhance the quality of life; empower residents (present and future) to become well balanced citizens.
History:
East New York United Concerned Citizens was formed in 2003 and was incorporated under State Law in 2005. In 2007 the organization was determined exempt from federal income tax under section 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code. The organization was founded by Christopher Banks, Claudette Elliott,James F. Chestnutt,Jr and Richard Swinson who are concerned citizens and wanted to make a difference in their community. Since then the organization has build a committed and dedicated board of directors who have created relationships with institutions and have helped expand our operations. East New York United Concerned Citizens, Inc. organized and coordinated an Intergenerational Holiday Dinner its first charitable event in December 2004. Through having this community event our organization was able to foster a relationship with the senior community and promote our newly founded organization. East New York United Concerned Citizens has reaffirmed it’s commitment to the senior community by sponsoring arts and craft workshops organizing and sponsoring social events and being a constant steady helping hand to those who laid the foundation. East New York United Concerned Citizens, Inc. has also work tirelessly to address the many issues facing our youth. In the year 2005 we lunched a “Dollars for Scholars Program” at Junior High School I.S.166 where we provided at the graduation EE-series savings bonds as a incentive to struggling students who have despite it all made it to graduation. East New York United Concerned Citizens, Inc. has continues to evolve into a community – based social service organization which functions as a support network for the East New York Community. We have expanded the focus of our programs to address and solve those issues which, directly impact the East New York Community; i.e.,
