The Hope Line's overriding mission is to help first-generation Hispanic immigrants to become self-reliant and upwardly mobile. We seek above all "to help people help themselves" by connecting them to a better life.
Description:
The Hope Line, has been serving the needs of the primarily Hispanic immigrant community in the south Bronx since 1990. The Hope Line provides services including: A Food Pantry that feed almost 35,000 adults and children. A Cloding Bank that serves approximately 70 families a month. Classes including: ESL with hundreds of students attending each year. Computer Literacy. Seminars that address a wide variety of relevant topics such as "How to Apply for Food Stamps", "Nutrition", "How to Apply for Health Insurance"
History:
A man was standing in the line for our Food Pantry when "The Truck" bringing the day's goods arrives and to be unloaded. He jumped right in and helped. In fact, he showed up and helped us whenever we needed a hand. And we helped him. We helped him find an apartment for him and his sons...and we helped him find work.
