The Reach Out and Read Program of Lutheran Family Health Centers encourages parents and children to read together. Volunteers read stories aloud to children once a week while their families wait for their appointments.
Description:
Lutheran Family Health Centers have six locations throughout southwest Brooklyn. You can volunteer in Sunset Park, Park Slope, or Flatbush. Come and help us share the gift of reading!
- Provide a fun and literacy rich environment for children.
- Lead a story-time, or read to individual children.
- Model appropriate story-telling techniques to parents.
- Share ideas with parents to help them create a literacy rich environment at home.
For more information about our program, come to one of our informational sessions, which take place every Thursday at 3 pm in our main office (6025 6th Ave in Brooklyn).
