The mission of God’s Love We Deliver is to improve the health and well being of men, women and children living with HIV/AIDS, cancer and other life-altering illnesses by alleviating hunger and malnutrition. We prepare and deliver nutritious, high-quality meals to people who are unable to provide or prepare meals for themselves. We also offer illness-specific nutrition education and counseling to our clients and families, care providers and other service organizations. All of our services are provided free of charge without regard to income.

God’s Love We Deliver works to improve the health and well-being of men, women and children living with HIV/AIDS, cancer and other life-altering illnesses by alleviating hunger and malnutrition. To this end, in addition to the delicious made-from-scratch meals we provide to all of our clients and their families, we also offer vital illness-specific nutrition education and counseling. Since 1986, God’s Love We Deliver has proudly served nearly 9 million meals to clients in New York City, Newark and Hudson County, New Jersey. God's Love We Deliver is a non-sectarian organization.

Every day, God’s Love We Deliver receives calls from people who are living with life-altering illnesses and have an urgent need for food. With a small full-time staff and a large group of dedicated volunteers, we lovingly cook and deliver over 3,000 nutritious, high-quality, freshly prepared meals every weekday. Our meals are delivered to people who, because of their illness, are unable to shop or cook for themselves - at a time in life when good nutrition makes such a difference and a delicious meal provides so much comfort.

Description:
Our big needs:
Van Assistant: Monday-Friday, 8am - 2pm*
Volunteers accompany staff drivers and assist by delivering meals to our clients and NMDC's Neighborhood Meal Distribution Centers throughout the five boroughs and Hudson County, NJ. Weekly, monthly and one-time Van Assistants are welcome. We're experiencing a significant shortage of Van Assistants, please help us spread the word and consider spending a day with our drivers. Volunteering on our vans is a beautiful way to volunteer and meet the people who benefit because of the work you do at God's Love.

Morning Pack-out Volunteer: Monday-Friday, 6:30am - 8:30am*
Volunteers place food into containers to be delivered to our clients. Weekly, monthly and one-time Pack-Out Volunteers are welcome.

NMDC Volunteer: Monday - Friday, flexible schedule*
Volunteers pick-up meals from Neighborhood Meal Distribution Centers and deliver directly to our clients. Manhattan deliveries require approximately one hour, anytime between 10 & 2, and can be delivered on foot. Most volunteers deliver during their lunch break. Outer borough deliveries require approx 2 hours, between 10 & 2, and require a vehicle. For a complete list of our NMDC's, go to: <http://www.glwd.org/volunteer_individual.html>

We need your help Monday-Friday in the Kitchen & Making Deliveries. For more information on our programs, events or volunteering, please contact the Volunteer Department at (212) 294-8100 or volunteer@glwd.org or visit our website at www.glwd.org., look under Volunteer and sign up for an orientation!

HOLIDAY OPPORTUNITIES: God's Love We Deliver needs people to deliver meals on Thanksgiving and Christmas morning. We need people with automobiles to deliver these meals in all five boroughs of Manhattan and Hudson County New Jersey. We also have a small number of meals that need to be delivered on foot (in Manhattan only). This is a great opportunity for parents who want to teach their children about service to the community. A wonderful family activity.

If your interested in helping for the holidays call: 212-294-8169 and leave a message. We'll get back to you as soon as possible.

Overall Experience    Experience rating
GLWD was a rewarding experience.

A volunteer is a special kind of person. Someone willing to give up a few hours or days a week to help others in need for nothing in return. This group embodies the example all New Yorkers should follow.
