Lotus Music & Dance is a cultural and educational institution dedicated to the teaching, performance and preservation of the dance and music traditions of the varied heritages which are integral to our society.

Description:
For over a decade, LOTUS has been the gathering place for New York's master performers and teachers of traditional world music and dance. LOTUS artists have brought authentic, exhilarating performances of Asian, Pacific Island, Spanish and many other music and dance forms to avid audiences around the country. LOTUS classes and workshops give adults and children a chance to savor their own and others' heritages through training in dance and music. LOTUS honors tradition and promotes collaboration across cultures.

History:
LOTUS is a non-profit organization dedicated to sustaining and nurturing an appreciation for the traditional dance and music of New York's many communities. Since 1989, LOTUS has presented the highest quality traditional dance and music of Asia, Africa, Europe, and the Americas, offering productions and classes which illuminate diversity as well as the fundamental connections between traditions. LOTUS provides a special opportunity for New York's traditional artists to perform, create, and teach.
