The New York Blood Center's mission is to provide the safest, best quality transfusion-related products and services at a reasonable cost to those who will benefit, and to increase the body and availability of knowledge in transfusion medicine.
Description and/or History:
The Brooklyn/Staten Island region was established in April 1999 to meet the needs of these two ethnically diverse communities. Brooklyn/Staten Island Blood Services Donor Specialist staff is a diverse group that reflects the cultural and language diversity of the community it serves. Brooklyn/Staten Island Blood Services serve 23 hospitals in the two boroughs, meeting the transfusion needs of 2.6 million people
This year, New York Blood Center (NYBC) is celebrating 40 years of service to the community. NYBC has been a singular healthcare resource, serving one of the most diverse populations in the world. One of the nations largest blood distribution and services organization, NYBC provides blood and blood products for more than one million transfusions annually, a significant portion of our nation's blood supply.
