The New York Open Center is a non-profit, holistic learning and cultural center.
Description:
We offer over 600 courses annually to over 15,000 people in the areas of mind/body connection, depth psychology, spiritual/contemplative practices, creativity/arts, and social/environmental issues. Our community is fairly small - about 55 full and part time staff - and shares a general interest in the areas of inquiry we teach.
History:
Founded in 1984, the Open Center sought to promote the idea that real cultural transformation will come about only when the inner and outer worlds are brought together. Since that time, the Open Center's goal has been to present a diverse and imaginative range of approaches, aimed at kindling inner growth and spurring social action. Additionally, the Open Center expresses the conviction that spirituality and clear thinking are deeply intertwined.
