PAL's goal is to improve the quality of life for New York City's children through educational, employment, and educational programs they otherwise would not have. Located in the most economically depressed areas of the five boroughs, PAL provides boys and girls with the hope and direction they need to lead meaningful and productive lives.

Description:
During our after school program, which runs from 3:00 to 6:00pm, we serve youth between the ages of 6 and 14. We provide these youth with a safe place to be and activities to keep them busy, while their parents make their way home from work. We provide an alternative to latch key children, who stay at home unsupervised and unstimulated, and to hanging out on the streets.

History:
The organization has been around since 1914. It was started by a Police Officer who thought that he would prevent crime in the city by taking young children off of the streets. He thought that giving them a purpose and direction would help them stay out of trouble and keep his jail cells empty. To this day his dream lives on and continues to prove successful.
