It is the mission of Mercy Home to assure the quality of life for persons with developmental disabilities through the recognition of each persons' inherent dignity and absolute right to a life filled with learning and love.

Our goal is to support each individual to reach his/her full potential. We use a person-centered approach and coaching techniques that offer each person the support he/she needs to reach greater independence.

Description:
Mercy Home operates 11 residences throughout Brooklyn and Queens for persons with developmental disabilities. We also offer Saturday Respite Programs for Children and teens with autism ages 4-16 and an adult program for individuals over the age of 18. The Mercy Home-Mitsui & Co USA Creative Arts Center provides free art, music and dance therapy to children ages 4-16 with autism and other developmental delays.The Medicaid Service Coordination program serves individuals and families Brooklyn and Queens who need assistance securing services for their child or sibling. Our recreational services are varied and include a wide variety of social activities including a band, dance, Special Olympics, bingo, arts and crafts, trips,movies, etc. The Mercy Home Performance Band consists of 10-15 "musicians" who work with a trained musical therapist/director and perform in the community.

History:
Mercy Home was founded in 1862 and incorporated in 1865 by the Sisters of Mercy. Mercy Home is licensed by the NYS Office of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities. The agency is affiliated withe the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce, Catholic Charities Diocese of Brooklyn and Queens, the Inter-agency Council, NYSACRA and the United Way of NYC.

 From Manhattan:take the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel to the Prospect Expressway. Exit at 10th Avenue make a right at the light proceed to Prospect Park West and make a right. Go 4 blocks the office is on the same side as Holy Name Church.
