The JCC in Manhattan's mission is to build an inclusive Jewish community that celebrates the strength of diversity. It is a home for individuals and families of all backgrounds to grow and to learn, and to care about and deepen their connections to one another. Through partnerships and programs, the JCC seeks to improve the quality of life in its neighborhoods and city.
Description:
Be an early bird reader, lunch hour book club leader, after school tutor or homework helper, an evening bedtime story reader or and anytime reading buddy. JCC reading specialist Judy Gross trains and supervises an ever-expanding corps of literacy volunteers dedicated to making a difference for hundreds of at-risk schoolchildren in our community. Demonstrate your commitment to the NYC public school students by becoming a literacy volunteer. New volunteers are welcome year round.
