The Page Turners After School Program functions to uplift and empower elementary and middle school students of the Hell's Kitchen community by providing a safe after school environment that itself provides homework assistance and encouragement in literacy. In doing so, the program aims to provide the students with the facilities to make positive choices as they "turn the pages" of their lives.

Description:
Page Turners is an after-school program for children in grades 1-6. The program runs Tuesdays through Thursdays (during the school year) 3:00-5:30 pm.

Our goal is to provide homework help for these children, as well as enrichment education that will expand the mind of each child. We help children complete their homework, while maintaining emphasis on comprehension and confidence in whatever they are working on. Our enrichment activities and resources are designed to expose children to the arts, sciences, world cultures, technology, character reinforcement and much more. Another important element that underlies all of our programming is our emphasis on excellence in literacy. With an ever-expanding library, we desire to instill a love for reading and writing. We believe that in doing so, we encourage life-long learning, as children then have the ability to teach themselves.

Located in Hell's Kitchen on West 40th Street, Page Turners mainly serves children who attend public schools in the surrounding area. Our children speak English, but for most it is their second language. Many of the parents in our community speak little to no English. We serve approximately 40 children each day in our program.
