Gouverneur Healthcare Services is committed to meet its community's healthcare needs through the provision of ambulatory care and nursing facility services.
As a member of NYC's HHC, Gouverneur Hospital committed to providing quality care regardless of a patient's ability to pay.
Description:
Gouverneur Healthcare Services operates one of NYC's largest Diagnostic & Treatment centers, which provide almost 300,000 patient encounters each year. Comprehensive outpatient services are provided, including Adult Medicine, Behavioral Health, OB/Gynecology, Dental, Pediatrics, Podiatry. On site Lab, Pharmacy and Radiology services are provided as part of the care plan. Gouverneur operates a 210-beds Nursing Facility.
History:
In 1885, Gouverneur made history by becoming America's first public hospital to establish a tuberculosis clinic. It was also the first to employ a female physician on its ambulance service and the first to set up a day camp--on a boat!--for undernourished adults and children. A century later, Gouverneur established Project HELP, the first psychiatric mobile crisis unit for homeless, mentally ill individuals. Gouverneur's ambulatory care facility, with over 300,000 patient visits, is one of the City's busiest.
