To enhance the worldwide image of New York City and enrich the New York experience by connecting visitors with knowledgeable and enthusiastic volunteers
Description:
Volunteers support the mission by being friendly, courteous and helpful and by showing a genuine devotion to and respect for New York City. In addition, a Greeter shall be thoroughly familiar with any neighborhood that she/he shows to a visitor.
History:
Since May, 1992, Big Apple Greeter was launched as a non-profit organization to welcome visitors, domestically and internationally to a New Yorker's New York. During this time period to the present, more than five thousand visitors have been shown New York City by our Volunteer Greeters.
