I'm interested in this opportunity

Do you have an interest in sharing information that will empower patients and community residents to make more informed health care decisions? Are you a customer service oriented individual with public speaking skills (or willing to learn)? Following training volunteers provide one-on-one or group health literacy education sessions to patients or community residents in ambulatory care waiting rooms or for senior groups. Volunteers will be trained to cover the following topics: reading and understanding prescription drug labels and over-the-counter medications; organizing multiple medications and creating a medical journal; accurate dosing; reading and understanding nutrition labels.

In this program volunteers are provided with the opportunity to complete a two - session health literacy training that involves multimedia-learning materials produced by a nationally known organization. Bilingual skills optional - Spanish, Cantonese/Mandarin, or Arabic.
