Make a Difference—Join the Neurology Volunteer Program!

NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia is seeking highly motivated volunteers for our new Neurology Volunteer Program. This is an exciting opportunity to work with patients with neurological illnesses in the Inpatient Neurology and Neurosurgery Units at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Medical Center.

Volunteers will participate in a full range of activities including companionship and emotional support, therapeutic recreational activities, feeding and ambulation assistance, and special events.
Each volunteer will receive a specialized training on the needs of patients facing neurological illnesses.

Anyone willing to make a special connection with our patients and treatment team are encouraged to apply.

A commitment of one 4-hour shift per week is required.

Volunteers will be interviewed. Go through a medical, attend a 2 hour general volunteer orientation and Neurology training.

 Public Transportation within New York City Take the A, C, #1, subway to 168th Street, or take the M2, M3, M4, M5, or M100 bus to NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia. By Car The most direct way to NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia from most locations is to follow directions leading to the George Washington Bridge, then exit onto the Henry Hudson Parkway, and then onto Riverside Drive (south). From there, continue south and turn left onto 165th Street (the first left south of the bridge). Proceed one block and turn right onto Ft. Washington Avenue, then turn right into the Medical Center parking garage. From upstate New York and New Jersey: After crossing the George Washington Bridge, follow signs to the Henry Hudson Parkway (also called the West Side Highway), and then to Riverside Drive. From Riverdale and Westchester via the Saw Mill River Parkwa: Exit the Henry Hudson Parkway at the Riverside Drive exit immediately past the George Washington Bridge. From Westchester, Connecticut, and the East Side of Manhattan via the Major Deegan, Cross-Bronx Expressway, or Harlem River Drive: Approaching the George Washington Bridge, take the Henry Hudson Parkway exit; on the approach to the Hendry Hudson Parkway, stay to the left and follow signs to Riverside Drive. From the West Side of Manhattan: Take the Henry Hudson Parkway to Exit 15-Riverside Drive South.
