CAMBA Introduction
CAMBA, a non-profit community based organization in the Flatbush neighborhood of Brooklyn, is seeking a highly motivated part-time intern to provide support to the Matching Grant Program in the Workforce Development / Refugee & Asylee Services Department. With a department staff of 30 individuals, including Career Advisors, Job Developers, and Instructors, our programs serve more than 1000 citizens, immigrants, refugees, and political asylees annually with a variety of skills training, job placement, and support services.

Program Description
CAMBA’s Matching Grant Program is an early employment program for highly motivated, newly arriving refugees and asylees. As an incentive to become employed and avoid Public Assistance, this program provides a cash grant for 3 months, equal to or greater than a Public Assistance cash grant. Participants also receive intensive case management services, financial and material assistance, job readiness training, job placement, and English language instruction. The Matching Grant Program is funded through public-private partnership, whereby the federal government provides $2 “matched” funds for every $1 CAMBA receives as a cash or in-kind donation. Subsequently, the more private cash and in-kind donations we develop, the more resources we can provide to our participants.
