Jacobi is looking for volunteers and/or interns interested in gaining the day-to-day practical work experience, knowledge, and skills of a City Trauma Hospital administrative department such as Pediatric, Ambulatory Care, The Women’s Health Center, Health Information Management, or subspecialty services. Tasks may include answering phones, filing, faxing, writing correspondence, updating database, research, patient registration, and assisting with other office duties. Knowledge of Spanish a plus. Must be 18 years or older and be able to volunteer a minimum of 10 hours per week with a three-month length of service commitment. Internships are unpaid, however we do participate in College Credit Internships. All volunteer candidates must have a physical within the past year and are subject to clearance requirements of New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation (HHC) assessment, which will include screening for the presence of drugs or alcohol. A background investigation will also be conducted.

IRT 5 Train
Take the No. 5 Dyre Ave. train uptown/North to the Bronx.
Get off at the Pelham Parkway/Esplanade stop. Walk one block from the station to Pelham Parkway – a six-lane, tree-lined parkway. Cross to the opposite side of the Parkway (from North to South).Take the Number 12 bus east to Jacobi Medical Center. Or walk about 8 blocks east along the Pelham Parkway South Service Road to the hospital.
IRT 2 Train
Take the No. 2 White Plains Rd./241st St. train uptown/north to the Bronx. Get off at Pelham Parkway, and use the exit at the rear of the station. On Pelham Parkway South take the Number 12 bus (east) to Jacobi Hospital. The bus ride will take about 10 minutes – about 1 and 1/2 miles.
The bus stops by the main entrance to Jacobi Medical Center.
IND 6th Avenue: “D” Train
Take the “D” train North to the Bronx. Get off at Fordham Road (Grand Concourse).Take the No. 12 bus on the South side of Fordham Road directly to Jacobi Hospital (eastbound – about 3 miles).
Express Bus
Take the New York Bus Service – Morris Park Bus (BxM-10). This bus runs up Madison Avenue and down Fifth Avenue in Manhattan.
Call the New York Bus Service – (718) 994-5500 for pick-up points and time schedule. Get off at Morris Park Avenue at Eastchester Road. Cross Morris Park Avenue and walk uphill one block to the Morris Park entrance to Jacobi Medical Center (near Ambulatory Care Pavilion – Building # 5); or
Get off at Eastchester Road and Pelham Parkway. Cross Eastchester Road and walk one block on Pelham Parkway South to Main Entrance of Jacobi Medical Center (near Jacobi Hospital – Building #1)
