amfAR seeks a part-time or full-time intern to participate in amfAR’s busy Special Events section of the Development Department. As intern you will participate in planning and executing successful events and benefit auctions, and learn the logistical requirements surrounding mailings, project research, and supplies inventory.

This is an unpaid internship, but includes a small weekly stipend to cover expenses. Schedule is negotiable.

The Special Events Intern will be providing office assistance with the
following events, among others (no travel outside of New York City required):

Honoring with Pride — Monday, June 9, 2008
The Hudson Hotel, New York, NY

Kiehl’s Since 1851 — Store Event (date TBD)
New York, NY

Bucks County Cabaret (date TBD)
Bucks County, PA
TWO x TWO for AIDS and Art — October 21–26, 2008
Dallas, Texas

Cinema Against AIDS Rome — Friday, October 24, 2008
Palazzo Fendi, Rome

This internship will especially benefit those pursuing a career in event planning and non-profit fundraising. Applicants should be organized, detailed-oriented with strong communication, writing, and computer software skills.
