Administration/Fundraising Intern

The Administration/Fundraising Intern works closely with and reports to the Executive Director and the Community Organizer (task supervisors); MSW interns also report to SIFI Supervisor

Objectives:
GGE strives to meet the vision of our strategic plan – developed through the Columbia University Business School’s Institute for Not-For-Profit Management – to become, by 2011, Central Brooklyn’s premier grassroots, community-based, girls’ rights organization providing the community and other organizations with innovative after-school programs that nurture the optimal development of girls and women while organizing around the ten points of Title IX of the Education Amendment.

Roles and Responsibilities:
This list contains tasks that are typically performed by the Administration/Fundraising Intern. The tasks are not all-inclusive, may vary depending on the state of the agency, and may be modified based on a current position analysis. The Administration/Fundraising Intern will:
∑ Assist Executive Director in managing grant reporting to foundation funders; conducting research on potential funders; writing grants; and increasing our individual donors and corporate sponsorships
∑ Work with Executive Director and Board of Directors in monitoring and evaluating all programs and community organizing initiatives to ensure quality and effectiveness; make recommendations for improvement
∑ Work with Executive Director and Board of Directors to plan and execute GGE fundraising events
∑ Work with Urban Leaders Director to plan staff development trainings for the Urban Leaders instructors
∑ Recruit, interview, hire, and supervise volunteers for the Health & Fitness program
∑ Revise organizational policies and procedures manual fro staff, volunteers, and interns
∑ Develop a strategic marketing plan for the organization
∑ Represent the agency to community leaders, local politicians, and community-based organizations by attending meetings and community events to facilitate organizational fundraising goals
∑ Act as a resource for management and staff by providing technical support within area(s) of responsibility and expertise
∑ Blog and write for GGE website
∑ Work with Community Organizer to create and manage coalition of organizations and youth addressing sexual harassment in NYC schools
∑ Edit and redesign Resource Manual
Qualifications:
∑ Understanding and analysis of the systemic nature of oppression, particularly the intersection of gender, race, sexuality, and class; this position requires a commitment to social justice
∑ General knowledge of funding sources and grantmaking procedures
∑ Ability to work as a part of a diverse team without regard to differences based on race, sexuality, ability, or age
∑ Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) in small and large groups
∑ Excellent ability to plan and organize a demanding workload
∑ Outstanding computer skills (particularly Microsoft Office programs) and proficiency in utilizing the internet
