Position Description: InMotion seeks a paralegal or paralegal student intern. This position requires a commitment of 10 - 20 hours per week for a minimum of ten weeks. The internship is unpaid; however an intern may apply for work-study, a grant or clinical credit through his/her paralegal school. Positions are available in both our Manhattan and Bronx offices.

Position Responsibilities: The paralegal will work under the direction of inMotion’s staff attorneys and legal director. The paralegal will assist with securing uncontested divorces for inMotion’s clients. This work entails meeting with and interviewing the clients, gathering appropriate documentation, drafting legal documents and filing appropriate papers with the Supreme Court. The paralegal will learn interviewing skills, the substantive law in New York State governing matrimonial cases, and procedural requirements of the Supreme Courts.

Qualifications:
• Paralegal, paralegal student, or experience drafting uncontested divorce papers
• Good interpersonal and organizational skills, self-starter, and highly motivated
• Knowledge of matrimonial law or domestic violence helpful but not required
• Ability to work collaboratively and independently
• Bilingual English/Spanish a plus
