Adopt A Grandparent Program needs volunteers
Powered by Truist
Last updated on November 17, 2008

Adopt A Grandparent Program is seeking volunteers to enhance the lives of elders living in the Cobble Hill Center nursing home. The purpose of Adopt A Grandparent Program says it all in the name: to promote productivity, to reinforce independence and dignity of our elders. Volunteer duties include visiting seniors once a week for one year at the nursing home. Giving the senior one-to-one attention and engaging them in productive activities such as conversation, looking at pictures, playing cards or board games. The one year commitment consists of weekly visits to the senior that you are matched with, in addition to visits on occasional holidays and on the senior birthday. The volunteer will act as a grandchild. If you want to instill pride in a senior, Adopt A Grandparent Program needs you.

Volunteers must be at least eighteen years old and older. Volunteers must have a recent annual and tuberculosis test. After completing an application, there is a 30-40 minute orientation and a personal interview as part of the screening process.
