Thousands of people who want to start their own companies and thousands of existing small companies need help in solving their business problems. SCORE needs men and women with experience running their own companies or as executives at large companies. People who need mental and intellectual stimulation, want to be with their peer groups and want to help business people in need of counseling will find this an ideal opportunity. Counselor openings for experienced professional business people are available in all five New York City Boroughs. This is a chance to do good, give back to the community and help improve neighborhood small businesses. There is always a need for multi-lingual executives as well as members of New York's diverse ethnic communities who have business experience and want to help minorities succeed in business. Experienced business professionals who will give four hours a day, two or three days a week to counsel small businesses, will receive a 40- to 60-hour orientation over eight weeks. They will become aware of how SCORE operates, how to write a business plan, what small business loans are available, what the SBA programs are and will have opportunities to sit in on actual counseling sessions. They will also participate in business seminars and, if they wish, can become presenters. Opportunities in committee, branch and chapter leadership positions also become available. This opportunity is sponsored by: SCORE-New York City
