Make Martin Luther King Jr. Day a “Day On” and not a day off. Join City Year and the Mayor's Volunteer Center for their "SHARE THE DREAM, LIVE THE REALITY" MLK Day of Service. The mission of the MLK Day of Service is to realize Martin Luther King's dream and legacy by breaking down barriers amongst people and establishing volunteer service as a means for social change. This year, “SHARE THE DREAM, LIVE THE REALITY” will be held on Monday, January 21, 2008, from 9:00am-3:30pm, at Long Island City High School in Queens. Please register to join hundreds of volunteers and help revitalize the community by: · Painting Murals . Building Bookcases · Cleaning Schools · And Giving Back To The Community This is a great volunteer opportunity for corporate and volunteer groups, families and student organizations to take part in. The canned food will be distributed from Hour Children’s Food Pantry in the following months. Hour Children is a family service provider established in 1995 by a group of Sisters of Saint Joseph to provide support to incarcerated mothers and their children. Thanks for all your help! |
